Bursary Program Program Policy

Purpose: The CKBC bursary program is designed to assist current CKBC members in their pursuit of post-secondary education and the development of the sport within the Province. This bursary honors young student athletes who have: 

  • Shown outstanding leadership traits and skills in Canoe or Kayaking and within their community.
  • Demonstrated a personal contribution to improve their community, school, and club and, in general, to helping others with their daily lives.
  • Shown athletic dedication in the sport of Canoe or Kayaking.
  • Accomplished scholastic success.

Eligibility: To qualify for a CKBC bursary, applicants must:

  • Have been registered as an athlete with CanoeKayak BC in the year of application.
  • Be a resident of the Province of British Columbia.
  • Be attending a post-secondary institute (registration verification will be required). 

Application & Adjudication Timelines: Applications open up each year on June 1st, and close on September 30th. The application form and any additional information is available on the CKBC Website. The final selection of recipients will be chosen by a committee of the Board of Directors with bursary donors input (if applicable). The bursary recipients will be presented annually at the CKBC Awards Banquet.
