Coach/Instructor Requirements

1. Criminal Record Checks

All those who provide a criminal record check must provide a Criminal Record Check (CRC) every five years for those 19 years and older. To apply for a Criminal Record Check through the BC System, please click here. Once you have filled out this form, you will be sent the code for the application system.

2. NCCP Certification

Coaches/instructors must be certified under the National Coaching Certification Program where programming is available. To see current offerings for NCCP Canoe Kayak Coach Education, see our Season Calendar section.

3. Code of Conduct

Adherence to the Safe Sport approved Code of Conduct.

4. Safe Sport or Respect In Sport

There are two options for training. CAC Safe Sport Training and/or Respect in Sport - Activity Leaders Training for level 2 and 3 risk levels, and the recommended completion of this training for level 1 risk levels.

5. Making Ethical Decisions

Coaches and Instructors are also required to complete Making Ethical Decisions.
